Critical Care Organization at UMassMemorial
The UMass Memorial Critical Care Operations Committee (CCOC), a virtual department of critical care that is unique among academic medical centers, was formed in 2004 as part of its efforts to increase patient safety and quality of care. Embracing the notion that clinical practice guidelines (CPGs) based on the best available evidence have the potential to make hospitals safer, the CCOC provides a structure for setting priorities and facilitating development and implementation of CPGs, involving staff from the front lines of patient care through top-level administration .
